Astroscope

The Astroscope shows the weekdays as they have never been shown before: related to the celestial bodies attributed to the different days since ancient times.

It is the Sun and Moon that divide our time into day and night and make the twelve months of the year tangible and perceptible to all. However, the division into seven-day weeks does not follow a particular astronomical rhythm, but has more of a mythological background. The method probably goes far back in time, when many peoples regarded the number seven as particularly sacred and associated with seven celestial bodies, namely the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. Just as most planets were named after Roman gods, most days of the week in both German and English derive their corresponding names from Norse mythology. Throughout history, the assignment of the days of the week to celestial bodies has stood the test of time.
